“ So delicious!!! Then bread on the torts is fantastic. Swap out onions for the pickled onions and it was perfect. My Daughter got the milkshake and it amazing!!! We will be back! ”
“ The food options near Sycuan resort weren't that great so we opted to drive to El Cajon for dinner. Las Pinches Tortas was the perfect place for tortas and milkshakes! Note: Don't forget to check in on yelp for 20% off! Food We opted to try the Cubana torta, la pinche torta and nutella shake. Cubana Torta - consisted of Mexico city style ham, pork loin, milanesa, melted cheese, tomatoes, onions, avocado, mayo and mustard. the sandwich was massive and flavorful! good to split between 2 people. the fries were just ok. I'd skip on the combo meal and just get the sandwich and a drink on the side. La Pinche Torta - consisted of arrachera (grilled flap meat), beans, melted cheese, tomatoes, onions, avocado, diablo sauce, mayo and mustard. Nutella Milkshake - this was the start of the show. It was the perfect consistency and the best way to end the night after consuming so yummy tortas. Las PInches Tortas, I can't wait to come back and try your other tortas and milkshakes! Thanks for having me! ”
“ Delicious! We had the California torta. 1 is more than enough for 2 people. The carne asada was so good. The fries were just right. Fresh toppings. Spicy jalapeños & pickled onions available for toppings. Cold beer. Great meal. We ordered a fountain drink, a beer, 2 California tortas & a California burrito & our total was just a hair over $40. Friendly, prompt service. The dining area is spacious clean. A+ & highly recommend. Ample parking in the adjacent parking lot. ”
“ THE MILKSHAKES... If you come here, you can't leave without one. Even if you aren't a fan of mexican food, please and I mean PLEASE come try their milkshakes. You won't regret it. Who doesn't love them. They have a variety of them and they are to die for!!!! The food is also great. Now don't let the name fool you. They don't just sell tortas. They sell a variety of Mexican classics. They serve anything from tortas and quesadillas, to burritos and fries. The portion sizes are huge and good to share unless you are super duper hungry, I'm sure it be hard to not finish your food. They have many daily specials and are located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking so there is no struggle on that. The decor is also great and the music just welcomes you in. If in El Cajon, make sure to stop by. ”
“ I had the most delicious torta at this place Loved the customer service Very clean inside I highly recommend this place ”
“ Husband saw a commercial/ ad of sorts on IG for Las PInches Tortas the other day. And c'mon!! First off- if the catchy word, Pinches (go ahead and Google Translate- Español) doesn't get your atttention- just stop by here and breakaway from the regular rolled tacos you might norm get. If burritos are your thing- they got em here too. Bit, if there's any mention of Tortas in the namesake- then, I want some damn tortas! What's a torta?!! In this case, it's a Mexican sandwich served on a crusty white sandwich roll. Yes, when you take notes- crumbs will collect on your clothes and table top. You've been warned. I've been craving Milanese (thin meat coated in bread crumbs and browned in butter/ hot oil). But, I wanted more!! Funny thing is- in our way too LPT, I asked hubby if he'd mind splitting a torta (because they're known to be quite filling). Thank goodness he was okay with it. And I noticed the "more" that I waanted than just wanting Milanese- is the Cubano! It still has the Milanese- but factor the slices oof ham, fresh advocado slivers , red onions, melted cheese (and I really don't tiink it was Swiss) mustard... forgot the sauce that was simmered into the pork? (Ughhh!! This i where I fail taking menu pictures ! Anyhow- I wasn't too pleased with the breading. It looked like it was too over fried ( perhaps deep fried longer than usual). It was past a golden brown and the meat seemed a bit tough. Other than that, the fries in the torta combo were really good. I even ordered a bowl of chicken tortilla soup . Besides shredded chicken, you get a heaping portion of chicken breast too. Plenty of tortillas chip strips and a shredded cheese. Even though I let the soup bowl sit for awhile- I guess it wasn't long enough. It was still piping hot. And milkcheiks?! Yes, There are milkshakes! I enjoyed the mazapan! De L Rosa Marzipan is a popular Mexican peanut candy.. I'm a big fan of the mazapan latte at Por Vida Cafe... So, having it available as a milkshake- sweetens the deal. ”
“ Service was exceptionally fast, the small restaurant was pretty empty as we walked in. The menu is the foldable you see in the photos already posted.. I'm assuming they're making a more permanent sign. We ordered La Cubana and La Burritorta as well as an Oreo milkshake and a Nutella milkshake. La Cubana was pretty amazing aside from the deep fried pork loin which was way too hard to chew or bite into. So I ended up pulling those pieces out completely. The stewed meat was juicy and flavorful - a little on the saltier side - but it was just stewed meat. And the sandwich was pretty soggy. I can't imagine if I had waited any amount of time to eat this. La Burritorta was flavorful and everything you'd expect. The milkshakes were pretty good, aside from not getting a the Nutella lip on the cup (which isn't a big deal), and well worth the price. ”
“ Cocina 88 is no longer, because "La Pinches Tortas" has moved to their location. Did you know that "pinches" is a bad word? Shh... Don't say a word. Since their title refers to some #$^@ tortas, I decided to go with one of those. I settled with the "La Jefa" or the The Boss. It came with some very nice ingredients including a shredded pork in a zesty adobo sauce, freshly sliced avocado, Mexican Panela cheese, pickled onions, and it was suppose to come with tomatoes and chipotle aioli, but they excluded those two items for some reason. They put mayo instead. The torta on its own cost $8.50: a decent price when one considers the overall size of the torta, not to mention the amount of ingredients. You can upgrade to a combo for $10 and that gets you French fries and a drink. I opt for a side of frijoles de la olla for $3.50. They use a quality traditional torta bun which was very good. I would recommend that they give more time inside the heating element to develop a good crust on the outside and to get that piping warm soft center. The adobo pork was very tasty and tender. It did not have heat, which was not an issue, because they offer a salsa bar with plenty of delicious and spicy hot sauces. I loved the freshly "sliced" avocados and the mild and milky panel cheese which worked well against the flavor of the adobo. The pickled onions were good, but I would of preferred the tomatoes and some regular white crunchy onions. The frijoles de la olla or whole pinto beans were good. They were tender but could of benefited from some seasoning. A touch of dried oregano, a coarse salt, and black pepper would of been just grand. Like I said, the salsa bar rocks, and if you are looking for one that's really hot and packed with flavor, ask the staff, they have a secret house made sauce in the back, that's not offered at the salsa bar. Service was very friendly and cordial. In addition to their terrific tortas, they also offer typical Mexican fare, such as burritos, tacos, breakfast plates, and some fantastic beverages. ”
